WidgetBucks Ups Affiliate Referral Program to 15%

From: Widgetbucks official blog

WidgetBucks is boosting its Referral Program payout to a generous 15 percent (up from 5). This means that when you refer a new WidgetBucks user, you will receive a 15 percent referral fee based on the commissions earned by the people you refer. You'll receive this 15 percent for the full 12 months after the new member joins.

Your referral fees will be credited to your account and paid monthly, along with your commission payout. So, if you refer someone, and they make $100 in commissions, we pay you $15; if they make $1,000, we pay you $150. This continues for a whole year on all the commissions they earn.

Be sure to access our Referral Tools page for pre-designed affiliate ads, tag lines and logos of various sizes. Here are some serving suggestions for your affiliate referral code:

* signatures (email, forums like Digital Point)
* sidebars on your site or blog
* Twitter feed
* Facebook, LinkedIn & MySpace profiles

Top 5 WidgetBucks Support Questions

While WidgetBucks transitions to a new and improved customer support ticketing system, we thought we'd provide a summary of top issues coming into our customer support team:

1. Why are my eCPMs fluctuating?

Ad price trends 2008

We're seeing a combination of things happening, not just across the WidgetBucks network but the industry as a whole: First, simply put, Q1 is not Q4. Each year, during the holiday season, price premiums are built into Q4 ad spends, and as the shopping season passes and enters the new year, those premiums tend to go away. This year is no exception and is a trend we also saw last year on the WidgetBucks network. History has shown that this tends to rebound as the quarter continues.

Second, as the economy has impacted brand budgets, we're seeing more movement, both coming and going, of advertisers across our network. We're working with existing ad partners, as well as pursuing new relationships, to maintain eCPM (effective cost-per-thousand impressions) as things stabilize after the holiday. Nonetheless, see this report on TechCrunch around the trending of eCPMs industry wide.

Our No. 1 goal is to make you, the publisher, more money than on any other network -- and that's what we're committed to. If you are experiencing issues with eCPM, we encourage you to contact Tue Pham (pronounced 'Tray'), Senior Publisher Network Manager, at tue.pham [at] widgetbucks [dot] com.

2. Why is my application being denied?

WidgetBucks is focused on securing advertiser relationships to create the most revenue for our publishers. As a result, our advertisers need assurances from our team that content on sites containing WidgetBucks ads is conducive to their brand values, and meets our Terms of Use. Applications from sites that contain adult and gambling content, or those with offensive language, get denied. Also, sites that are not completed, still in development or have just a single blog post on them will also get denied. This is consistent across the industry when it comes to approvals (BlogCatalog is another example).

3. Why has my account been suspended?

We are finding that a majority of sites that get suspended are a result of miscategorized or misrepresented content. When this is determined by our content review team, standard protocol is that we email the publisher to alert them of the issue. Frankly, when the content is grossly misrepresented, suspension typically happens immediately. When the misrepresentation is borderline, we contact the publisher and provide them 24 hours to make any adjustments, and if those aren't made or there is not response from the publisher, the account is suspended. Note those that do respond and/or we connect with regarding issue -- and it's resolved -- we can get reactivated quickly and back on the road to top-notch earnings.

We also have sophisticated and proprietary click fraud and impression fraud filter systems in place, and track these systems continually. Refer to WidgetBucks Terms of Use for more details on what content is allowed and restricted.

4. Why is my widget not appearing?

Widgetbucks list of support countries

In July, WidgetBucks provided CPC and CPM Country lists, meaning that site traffic from those countries earns revenue based on its designation. For example, visitors from the U.S. and U.K. represent CPC earnings, whereas visitors from India and Ireland represent CPM earnings. If you have installed WidgetBucks ads on your site but they are not appearing, you may be viewing the ads from a non-CPC or CPM country, and therefore no ad would appear for you but WILL appear for people viewing your site from a CPC or CPM country. If you are from a CPC or CPM country, and your WidgetBucks ads aren't appearing for you, please contact tue.pham [at] widgetbucks [dot] com.

5. How are payments calculated and paid?

WidgetBucks distributes payments, earnings and commissions to publishers up to 45 days following the month your account balance reaches $50 or more. These are sent primarily via PayPal, with some also receiving checks. WidgetBucks generally does not send checks to countries outside of the U.S.; however, if you are approaching the $50 theshold (and you can't receive PayPal in your country), contact WBHelp [at] widgetbucks [dot] com to make special arrangements.

If you have other questions that weren't addressed here, contact WBHelp [at] widgetbucks [dot] com

Thanks again for using WidgetBucks on your site or blog!

Top Affiliates Share Their Money Making Secrets at BlogWorld

WidgetBucks review

Source: http://blog.widgetbucks.com/2008/09/top-affiliates-share-their-money-making.html

One of the kick-off panels at BlogWorld Expo today in Las Vegas comprised of some of the blogosphere's top affliate bloggers -- Jim Kukral (moderator), Darren Rowse (Problogger), Zac Johnson (zacjohnson.com), John Chow (JohnChow.com), Brian Clark (CopyBlogger.com) and Jeremy Shoemaker (Shoemoney.com). Pictured are (l-r) Rowse, Kukral, Johnson and Matt Hulett, CEO of WidgetBucks.

With many bloggers turning to veterans such as these to find out strategies for making money on their blogs, the group provided points of view across various topics of revenue. Here were some of the topics and trends they are seeing:

What is there greatest source of revenue? General sentiment brought out and ranked a few types of revenue: 1) direct ad sales, 2) affiliate promotions, 3) ad networks and 4) Google AdSense, call the webmaster welfare by one of the panelists. The point was made that direct sales take a lot of time and the pure profit may be worth it, however, you need to have a reasonable amount of traffic and following to attract advertisers -- there's where ad networks make it easy. Affiliate promotions can be incredibly profitable, but you need the trust and following to make those work as well.

In spreading the word, RSS or email newsletter? While RSS is a growing in popularity, Darren Rowse made the point that people like what's familiar, and that's email. But putting the email newsletter signup isn't necessarily enough. John Chow recommended creating a free offer to give people incentive to subscribe, such as a free e-book or t-shirt. There is one one service that automatically distributes a collection of your recent blogs last number of stories (a figure you determine).

Should my personal brand represent my site? It depends. Where do you want to take it in the future. For example, Darren Rowse after admittedly messing up domains in the past, chose Problogger.net because it is representative of what he does. Copyblogger.com, which helps people with content creation is also descriptive. JimKukral.com and Zacjohnson.com are in a different position where the site IS their brand and can have huge benefits if you are working toward consulting and services.

For another summary, check out the recap of Zac Johnson.

WidgetBucks' 'European Union' off to a fast start

Widgetbucks European

After expanding its CPC (cost-per-click) network into the UK last month, WidgetBucks has continued its roll across western Europe. On July 30th, Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Sweden and Denmark joined the UK. This means that site visitors from those countries now see the double-revenue ad widgets — a CPM display ad followed by a CPC widget of country-specific products from in-country merchants in local currency.

The results so far have been stellar. Our publishers in the UK have shown a 2.5 times increase in eCPM (combining CPM and CPC earnings) over this time. We expect simliar results in the newly expanded countries in the coming weeks.

WidgetBucks hits 1 billion impressions in July

Widgetbucks 1 billion

We would like to thank all publishers around the world for contributing to our first 1 billion impression month ever during the month of July. It is amazing to have hit this milestone just 10 months after our October launch. Widgetbucks continues to flourish as the internet's fasting growing ad network because of your continued hard work and dedication to us. Thank you!

June payments sent August 15th

WidgetBucks June payments were sent via PayPal on August 15th. Checks are being processed and will be mailed by the end of next week. As always, we encourage you to switch to PayPal. It's faster and more secure than snail mail — and there's no fee to receive payment.

WidgetBucks: The Review

WidgetBucks review

WidgetBucks heralds itself as the ultimate Google AdSense alternative: this publisher program inserts 'dynamic' ads that cycle through a handful of products in real-time, while displaying those products' star ratings, descriptions and "best prices."

Widgetbucks created a stir around the webmaster community with its aggressive, anti-AdSense advertising campaign, and promise of high click payoffs.

With WidgetBucks, your income structure is based on pay-per-click, where you are paid for each click made on an ad by a legitimate website visitor. You do not earn anything for conversions, or products sold as a result of those clicks. Also, don't even think of clicking your own ads - like any other publisher program, this will throw a red flag in the air.

The main core competency of Widgetbucks ads is that they dynamically cycle through a list of products, rather than showing a static ad that only changes with a page refresh. Widgetbucks ad code uses Javascript to call its Adobe Flash-based ads.

How Does Widgetbucks Work?

Widgetbucks is perhaps one of the easiest publisher programs to use, and a breath of fresh air from the multiple-page atrocity of setting up AdSense ads. The "New Widget" screen, as seen above, is your be-all-end-all start and finish screen for creating a new widget. Name and identify where the widget will be seen. Next, select a widget size, and a product rotation interval (how fast do you want Widgetbucks to scroll through a list of products? The choice is from a 1 to 10 second pause).

Select a color scheme to apply to your ads - make it match your site's color scheme as much as possible!

Last but certainly not least: from your menu on the right, you can select the broad and sub-categories of products you'd like to see featured in your ad (how we all wish AdSense had this feature...). While all of these changes are being made, the preview area (not seen in the screenshot above) dynamically updates and lets you see the exact ad you'll get. Finally, save and add the code to your site - and you're done!

Is Widgetbucks Legit?

Widgetbucks is a legitimate company, and is managed by the Mpire Corporation, of whom has substantial vestments:

WidgetBucks comes to you from the folks at Mpire Corporation...Founded in 2005, Mpire is backed by Ignition Partners and former eBay executive and Pay Pal angel investor Richard Rock.

Widgetbucks officially launched on October 2, 2007. The first-ever round of payments have successfully been reported by Widgetbucks publishers during the first week of December 2007. The waiting period for the very first payment was approximately 45 days, in many cases.

Can Widgetbucks be Used With AdSense?

Yes - Widgetbucks and AdSense can co-exist on the same page! AdSense's terms of service state that other advertising venues may be used, as long as they are distinguishable from AdSense ads that are located on the same page (and, as long as they do not encourage clicks to AdSense ads).

So, is Widgetbucks Worth Using?

Widgetbucks is a great alternative publishers' program for anyone looking to jazz up their blog or site with a graphical, ever-changing ad that displays multiple products. Note that it is not for those looking to blend ads with the rest of their site - these ads do scream "I'm an ad!", so - other tactics should be assessed for your website(s).

Widgetbucks is a good alternative for AdSense users suffering from penny clicks. Even at the minimum, I was earning $0.07 per click for a video site that was previously earning penny clicks with AdSense.

Widgetbucks' contextual option struggles, for the most part (it's the option that looks at your page, and displays items that it thinks would be most relevant). Selecting your own categories is highly recommended.

Note that some Widgetbucks users complain about how Widgetbucks ads will slow down the load time of a web page. This matter was addressed by Widgetbucks in late October, with more optimized ads. Many webmasters have reported more success with using Widgetbucks ads near the bottom of a page (since the ad will be loaded by the time you scroll down to see it).

It should also be noted that Widgetbucks works best on websites or blogs that review products - such as consumer electronics.

The best advice is to give no advice here - try Widgetbucks out for a week, and see how it works for you! Much like any other publisher program, your payout per click depends on many variables, which include the market you're targeting, as well as the products being displayed for them. The many varieties and sizes of ads makes for a more pin-pointed ad experience.

If you've found this review to be helpful, please sign up with Widgetbucks and try it out for yourself! See how it compares to the other ad programs you've previously used (or are currently using)...just click on the banner to get started - and Happy Monetizing!

Introduction to Widgetbucks

Widgetbucks Introduction

WidgetBucks is a new way to monetize web sites, which is primarily bloggers-oriented. As usual, people tend to get quite excited when all they have to do is throw another JavaScript code in their web page. But I think the appeal of WidgetBucks is likely to be fairly limited. This article will introduce to you the good and bad of the program.

WidgetBucks is mostly geared towards product websites. I don't think that any "information" style site could benefit from them. That said, if you have a product-oriented site, it is definitely worth a look.

The Good

* WidgetBucks pays very well if your traffics are primarily from United States (CPC + CPM ads).

* Ads are animated. At least, the ads are willing to attract attention. This could help gain a decent CTR.

* Registration is very simple and you seem to be automatically approved. You can have the code up and running on your website in a few minutes.

* The interface is intuitive and easy to use.

* WidgetBucks works well with Google Adsense.

The Bad

* WidgetBucks pays very poorly if your main traffics are NOT from United States. (CPM ads only)

* Ads are garish and somewhat overwhelming. These are certainly not the most attractive ads, and don't blend in with your website.

* Ad loading is slow. In fact, your page will likely loads before the ads do.

* The categories are limited. You may not find something that will fit your website.

To see if you like it, make sure to sign up and find out for yourself.
